1. Secure Loose Objects Around Your Property
High winds can turn loose objects into projectiles, potentially damaging your solar panels. Secure or store items like trampolines, outdoor furniture, and garden tools. Trim any overhanging branches.
2. Understand Your Inverter’s Isolation Procedure
If you need to evacuate or for safety reasons, turning off your system as a precaution can help prevent electrical hazards. Always follow the guidelines provided below
*Go to your switchboard and open it. Locate the Label solar supply main switch and switch it to the off position.
* If your solar power inverter is more than 3 meters away from your switchboard, locate the switch marked 'solar AC isolator' next to your inverter. If your inverter and switchboard are within 3 meters of each other, skip this step.
* Go to your inverter and find the switch marked 'PV Array' and 'DC Isolator'. Switch this to the off position (in some cases there will be two switches, or newer systems may only have a knob under the inverter or on the side of the inverter to turn to the left to the 'OFF' position).
To restart your system, follow this guide in reverse order: DC isolator ON first, followed by AC isolator, followed by your solar supply main switch. Wait for 60 seconds, and the inverter will turn on.

In the event of extreme weather damage or flooding, never attempt to turn your system back on until it has been inspected by a professional. Before the storm, take a moment to read the label on your inverter and familiarize yourself with the shutdown and isolation procedure.
Once the storm has passed, visually inspect your system from a safe distance. If you notice any of the following:
3. Inspect Your System Post-Cyclone
Once the storm has passed, visually inspect your stem from a safe distance. If you notice any of the following:
*Panels that have shifted, cracked, or appear loose* Exposed wiring or damage to the mounting system* Flooding around your inverter or electrical components
If in any doubt, call Solar Masters at 1300 748 841 or email pictures of the screen error & inverter serial sticker to service@solarmasters.com.au before restarting your system. Even if there is no obvious damage, internal faults can impact performance and safety.
4. Make a Claim for any Damages
If your system has been impacted by the cyclone, Solar Masters will assist you with your insurance claim.
